'I've been reading the Bible all my life': Frasier's Kelsey Grammar shares faith connection ahead of 'Jesus Revolution' film release

by Heather Preston

Frasier star Kelsey Grammar has spoken about his "relationship with the Word of God" in connection to his new film role as a Pastor.

The actor plays Pastor Chuck in the movie Jesus Revolution directed by Jon Erwin and Brent McCorkle.

Based on true events, Jesus Revolution tells the story of street preacher Greg Laurie and a group of liberated young people who descend on Southern California in the 1970's. It chronicles the Jesus Movement - a counterculture Christian revival that emerged in the United States during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Pastor Church befriends Laurie, despite the grumbles of his aging congregation.

Speaking to Fox news, Grammar - who was raised as a Christian Scientist - said he felt a connection to Pastor Chuck: "It strikes me, you know, I probably have been preparing for [this role] all my life, honestly."

"I'm kind of a Bible guy. I've been reading the Bible all my life. I turn to it for prayer, for reflection, for information, and I just always have. It’s just always been sort of at my fingertips throughout my life, ever since I was a boy.

"So I have a relationship with the Word of God, as they call it, that it was probably akin to what Chuck Smith's relationship was with it," he added.

Speaking of the 1970's movement and it's relevance today, Grammar remarked that "a great society can embrace a great faith, and probably enhance both. That's what I'd like to see happen."

The film comes as Asbury University in Kentucky has been experiencing an outpouring of the holy spirit through an ongoing revival meeting which began 8th February.

Greg Laurie spoke to Churchleaders ahead of the films release saying he hopes the film will stir up faith for further revival.

“It’s been said that the theme of revival spreads the flame of revival.”

Jesus Revolution is due for release on Friday, 24th of February.
