Marc Guehi wore custom football boots emblazoned with a Bible verse, as he made his debut for Manchester City at the weekend.

The defender had “Isaiah 54:17” printed on his boots when he took to the field for his new side.

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper,” is the verse Guehi chose, speaking of God’s protection.

It is not the first time he has worn customised kit, having also had Exodus 14:14 inscribed on his boots.

Guehi kept a clean sheet as Manchester City won 2-0 against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The England international left Crystal Palace, signing a five-and-a-half year contract.
