A golfer whose mother prophesied that he would become a professional sportsman has won the US Open.
Speaking to press following his win, Wyndham Clark told journalists that the win was part of “God’s plan” for his life.
When asked about his battles with his mental health, following the death of his mother ten years ago, he said: “I’m really glad I stuck it through. God has a plan for me and it’s obviously far greater than I could ever have imagined.
“Being here now, I feel so blessed and it’s surreal to look back on my journey over the last seven to ten years.”
During a difficult season of his early golfing career, Clark’s mother told him he would make it onto the PGA tour, and he would use his battle as a testimony of the grace of God and his Christian faith.
PGA is the organiser of professional golf tours in the United States and North America.
The 29-year-old, from Denver, Colorado, lost his mother at the age of 19.
Eight years ago, on the two year anniversary of her death, he took to Instagram to post a tribute to his late mother. It read: “I'll never truly know why God takes people form this earth at such a young age but I do know my mom is in a better place enjoying eternity with Jesus. I miss you so much and can't wait till the day I can be in your arms again."
“I love you up to the moon and as big as the sky I'll always be your little man"
The caption was attached to a photo of her gravestone, which read: “Loved the Lord. She changed lives for the better.”
