Rev Franklin Graham preached in Birmingham UK on Saturday 15th June, marking the 40th anniversary of his father Billy Graham’s historic outreach at Villa Park in 1984.
The Resorts World Arena was filled to capacity, with a crowd of 8,300 attendees for his God Loves You Tour UK.
The event saw around 500 churches from across the region collaborate with Franklin Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. To facilitate attendance, 150 buses transported people from various communities throughout the Midlands and further afield.
During the evening, Rev Graham shared his personal connection to the UK and his father's legacy.
In a statement, he said: "It’s great to be here today and to see this area—first time I’ve ever been to the Midlands. My father was here 40 years ago. I miss him, and every time I come to this country, I think of him because he loved the people of this nation."
He continued his message by focusing on the transformative power of faith: "There may be many people here tonight who are wondering. You’ve heard about Jesus, you’ve seen churches, but you aren’t quite sure who He is. I want you to know this tonight—Jesus Christ is the Son of God... He came to save you and me from our sins. Jesus Christ loves you!"
In a post on X Rev Graham shared photos from the sell-out event and wrote in part: "Hundreds of people came forward at the invitation to surrender their lives to him. We give God the glory for every soul saved and life transformed."
The tour is set to continue this week at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Saturday 22nd June, with plans for Franklin Graham to return to the UK next year for an engagement at ExCeL London on 21st June 2025.
