Franklin Graham pushes sales of 'Pray for 45' shirt as US Election Day draws near

by Tola Mbakwe

US Evangelist Franklin Graham has encouraged Christians to buy a shirt that reminds them and others to pray for President Donald Trump.

The shirt, which says "PRAY for 45' and 1 Timothy 2:1-2, is available for $15.99 on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association online store. 'Forty-five' refers to the fact that Mr Trump is the United States' 45th president.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Graham said it was important to pray for the president as he recovers from coronavirus.

On Wednesday, Mr Trump claimed his coronavirus infection was a "blessing from God" because he felt "perfect" after receiving an experimental drug treatment that he has now vowed to make available to all Americans for free.

The T-shirt first launched in July 2018 as a way to hit back at anti-Trump clothing being sold on a US retail giant's website.
Walmart was selling a shirt that said "IMPEACH 45'.  It lead to a campaign to boycott the supermarket.

Walmart said the shirts were being sold by third party retailers and quickly removed the shirts of its website.
