A family alerted authorities to the location of the baby and told ABC news that they were led to the child through an "act of God".
Alan Ragatz and his teenage daughters heard what they described as strange noises coming from the wooded area adjacent to their property.
When they went to investigate, they found the newborn placed among a pile of leaves and sticks.
The emotional moment police officers responded to the call made by the family in the town of Cumming was captured on bodycam footage.
The crying baby still has its umbilical cord attached.
"My kids said, 'That's a baby,' and I said 'That's an animal," Ragatz can be heard telling officers in the footage.
The baby was taken to hospital, where she received emergency treatment.
Authorities have said that the infant, who has since been named India, is now "thriving" three weeks on.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has appealed to anyone with information on baby India to call their tip line.
"We release this footage in hopes to receive credible information on the identity of baby India and to show how important it is to find closure in this case," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
