Evangelist and author Don Double has passed away.

Known for his 'healing crusades', Double was a significant figure on the UK evangelism scene for many decades.

Evangelist Carl Beech, who took on the baton of Double's 'Good News Crusade' ministry, now called 'Edge Ministries', paid a warm tribute to the late preacher.

"Having been with Steve and Anne Double yesterday I had learned that the incredible evangelist Don Double was coming near to the end of his time on earth," Beech posted on Facebook.

"I heard the sad news of his passing this morning as I was heading home from a road trip where I had been communicating the message of Jesus. Both of these things are poignant and caused me to reflect for a moment.

"Many thousands of lives were profoundly impacted by Don. I’m one of them. Some years ago he decided that I was the person he wanted to hand his charity to. “To do whatever you feel you are called to do.” That was the seed funding for Edge Ministries.

"Don was a pioneer of much that we see today such as camps, festivals, missions. He truly paved the way and often to very unreached communities.

"I first met him some years previously at the GNC [Good News Crusade] camp after a rather bizarre set of circumstances during with I met Steve, who rapidly became one of my closest mates.

"Well done good and faithful servant. See you soon. RIP Don Double.”
