A woman in the US state of Texas has held a prayer vigil outside the hospital where her mother lays gravely ill from Covid-19. Laura Sorrell broadcasted the vigil live on Facebook on Saturday, as she decided whether or not to remove her Mum from life-support.
Laura told CBS 4 that her 59-year-old mother, Angelica, has been in the Intensive Care Unit for 45 days, and has been intubated for a month. Addressing the prospect of letting doctors take her off life-support, Sorrell said: "my answer is going to be no".
"My mom is still fighting," she added. "She’s still fighting, and she’s going to recover. I know that.”
In response to the number of patients being treated for the virus inside El Paso's Hospitals of Providence East Campus, Sorrell gathered some "prayer warriors" outside the hospital on Saturday night to intercede on their behalf.
“I just need a little bit of help with God, so we can get through this," she told CBS 4 Local.
On Facebook, Sorrell broadcasted a number of people gathering outside in the car park, praying fervently for God to intervene.
"We are here all gathered...God hears my plea," Sorrell wrote.
"My mom is my best friend, she’s my sister. She’s everything to me," she added. "Everything, everything, everything. I want to hear her again, for her to call me again when I’m driving to work when I’m coming from work.
"This is a time they can come with me, and we can pray with everybody."
There is no update on Angelica's condition at this time.
