In a blog discussing the fears he has over his daughter becoming a teenager , Rt Revd Martyn Snow mentions why he believes 'Hard Out Here" captures how far the feminist revolution "has not" brought us.
He says the song which includes explicit lyrics highlights the "double standards in private sexuality and public work."
"It's fine for men to boast about their sexual conquests while women are blamed for being loose and free. She highlights the way women are endlessly reduced to sexual objects, even in supposedly respectable publications and TV shows", said Bishop Martyn.
He goes on to admit that the Church of England is "hardly a model of equality" but that he trusts the he and his wife have "instilled the values in her, and her brothers, that they will set an example of how things can be different."
The Bishops comments are in stark contrast to Prime Minister David Cameron's who has banned his daughter from listening to the singer.
In a radio interview Mr Cameron said: "A lot of parents feel we are engaged in a sort of struggle to bring up our kids properly, letting them see the world as it is but not being totally bombarded with commercial and sexual imagery at too early an age.
"My daughter is obsessed by Lily Allen, who I think is slightly unsuitable."
