Churches, ministries, and individuals worldwide will unite to pray for 250 million students as part of the Collegiate Day of Prayer (CPD) on 27th February.
Originating in the early 19th century, the observance was revived in 2009 and has grown steadily, now engaging over 700 groups across 1,100 campuses.
According to The Christian Post, CDP Executive Director Thai Lam credited the 2023 Asbury revival for expanding the initiative’s global focus, noting that half of the 5 million participants last year were outside the United States.
This year, CDP is officially launching as a global movement, shifting its prayer efforts from 20 million U.S. students to 250 million across 195 countries.
Ministries like Cru, which has reportidly "prioritised campus prayer" since its founding in 1951, are actively supporting the event.
Cru’s Dan Allan emphasised the role of prayer in campus transformation, inviting participants to adopt three campuses.
"One close to their heart, near their home, and in another country."
With a growing movement of believers committing to intercede for students and faculty, Lam envisions a future where every campus is spiritually supported by local churches and communities.
“Who knows what the Lord might do?” he told the outlet.
