The app, mainly used on phones, sees users share photos with followers.
The Church says it's hard to keep up with the latest digital trends and parishes shouldn't worry about ensuring they're accessible on all social media sites.
But it is encouraging them to embrace Instagram.
In its new guide, the Church says: "It's no longer true that Instagram is just for younger people. While 59% of those on Instagram are aged 18-29, 33% are 30-45 and 21% are over 50.
"It's a great place to show the personality of your church, who attends and what kind of events and services you offer."
Top tips for using Instagram include quality over quantity on posts, using hashtags and regularly responding to comments.
The Church of England's digital team has been touring the country throughout 2018 training 500 churches on how to better serve their communities online. It hopes to have trained 1,000 parishes by Christmas.
