Churches across the country invite people to join in Remembrance Sunday services

The National Service of Remembrance will be held at the Cenotaph on Whitehall, London at 11am and it is expected to be attended by a great number of people.

The Church of England is also helping people find local services using the website 'A Church Near You', where information about people's nearest church and the facilities that are provided can be viewed.

Speaking to Premier, the Very Reverend Diana Gwilliams, Dean of Guildford Cathedral said: "People who want to come to church on Remembrance Sunday could ensure that having looked at that, just briefly, that they would know about the facilities and that they would be very welcome for all the members of their family and friends and children and people who have access issues."

Asked about how Remembrance season reflects the gospel and the character of Jesus, the Dean replied: "The heart of it is about people who put themselves in harm's way for the good of others and at the heart of the gospel is Jesus' self-giving of himself and he didn't have to - he chose to go to the cross."
