The Met Office has extended its Level 3 cold weather alert until Friday.
Thousands of people across the North are still without power, as snow drifts continue to hamper efforts.
The worst affected areas are Scotland, Northern Ireland and Cumbria.
Isle of Arran in Scotland has been badly affected.
