Church funeral for IndyCar racer Justin Wilson

by Desmond Busteed

Wilson, the Sheffield-born driver, was killed after an accident in an IndyCar race last month.

The 37-year-old was struck on the helmet by flying debris from a crash in the closing stages at the Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania, and succumbed to his injuries a little over 24 hours later.

A statement on his website read: "The funeral of Justin Wilson will take place on Thursday 10 September at 11.45 at St James the Great Church, High Street, Paulersbury, Northamptonshire, NN12 7NA and afterwards in Hall 5, The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN."

Wilson competed in the 2003 Formula One season where he raced for Minardi and Jaguar before moving to America where his career spanned a decade.

The F1 community is paying tribute to Wilson at this weekend's Italian Grand Prix with each of the 20 drivers sporting a sticker in his memory on their crash helmets.
