More than 800 squares were knitted or crocheted in order to make the 6 ft tree by the St Michael's Yarn Bombers knitting group.
The project has taken the knitting group almost a year to complete. Church members,craft groups, family, friends and children helped to produce squares and some were even sent from the US.
The tree is currently on display at St Michael's Church in Stoke Gifford.
Once the Christmas season is over, the tree will be taken down and turned into blankets to donate to Emmaus Bristol and the Julian Trust Night Shelter and distributed to the homeless.
Debbie Bambridge, who founded the group told Premier News Hour: "We wanted to do something that doesn't just look good but does good as well.
"It has been the work of a lot of people who have come together as a community we're going to be able to bless people in a practical way by providing blankets."
