Church bombings not altering the Pope's scheduled visit to Egypt

Pope Francis will head to Cairo on 28th April for a two-day visit.

The purpose of the trip is to strengthen relations between Catholics and Muslims, with a goal of ending terror and extremist violence.

The trip includes a meeting with Egypt's president and a speech at an international conference on peace. Francis will also meet with the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, Pope Tawadros II.

The two bombings on Sunday left a total of 45 people dead. ISIS has claimed responsibility for both attacks.

After a Palm Sunday mass, Pope Francis condemned the attacks and prayed: "May the Lord convert the hearts of the people who are sowing terror, violence and death, and also the hearts of those who make and traffic weapons."
