Christian Today has reported that it has called on authorities to speed up their investigations into attacks on Christian properties and says Christians "feel very unsafe in our own motherland."
In an interview with IBTimes UK the secretary to the Archbishop of Agra, Father Santosh, said Christians in the area have felt threatened since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power last year. He said he feels the Prime Minister will not take action to stop these attacks.
Recently a nun was raped following an assault on a convent and it is thought 6 churches have been attacked in Delhi this year so far.
Sajan K. George, president of the Global Council for Indian Christians (GCIC) said: "Such hostility against the Christian minority is only increasing, while the government does nothing to stop them and the radical right-wing Hindus continue with their diatribes, such as the recent request of forced sterilisations for Christians."
However India's Finance Minister, Arun Jaitly denies these allegations. He said: "All the incidents were law and order problems.
"...Not a single case [attack] was carried out by the majority community ... nor were they of a political nature or communal," he added.
