Christian preacher Hatun Tash ‘concerned’ over freedom of speech in the UK as attacker admits intention to murder her

by Premier Journalist

Hatun Tash, a Christian street evangelist who regularly preaches at Hyde Park's Speakers Corner, has raised concerns about the state of freedom of speech in the UK.

It’s after Edward Little, 21, pleaded guilty on Friday to attempting to kill the preacher in 2022.

In September, police arrested the Brighton native when they found him in possession of thousands of pounds in cash, intending to purchase a gun to murder Tash and her camera crew. However, he was apprehended before carrying out his plan.

In response to Little's admission of guilt, Tash said: “l am glad that the police were able to act and stop Mr Little before he harmed me and people around me. This should concern everyone in the UK.

"This story shows that the teaching of Islam is not compatible with British Values if it inspires men to attempt to murder Christian evangelists.

"I should be able to practice my right to preach the gospel and critique Islam, or anything else that I disagree with, especially at Speakers’ Corner, the home of free speech.”

Tash has previously been the target of attacks, including a knife attack that left her with wounds on her face and hands, due to her preaching on issues connected to Islam.
