Christian MP Danny Kruger warns of ‘unregulated sexual economy’ and calls for cultural reset

by Tola Mbakwe
Christian MP Danny Kruger has said Britain is suffering from a “totally unregulated sexual economy", and warned that if his party were to “make a mess" of being in power, he would fear for the country’s future.

Danny Kruger, who defected from the Conservatives to Reform UK last September, spoke to House Magazine about how his Christian faith shapes his views on family life, marriage and the direction of society.

Kruger said government policy plays a critical role in shaping family formation and cultural norms. “Marriage traditionally was the means by which sexual relations between men and women were regulated, and I think we are suffering from having a totally unregulated sexual economy,” he said.

While stressing he is not interested in individuals’ private love lives, he added: "I am interested in the framework in which you make your decisions, and I’d like the framework to be more pro-social. If you want – most people do want – to settle down with one person to have children, we should make that easier."

The MP for East Wiltshire confirmed that Reform UK is exploring policies that would support families, including shifting the tax system to focus more on households rather than individuals. He also revealed the party has a “pronatalist ambition”, saying: “We want people to have more children, and we think the government should get behind that wish.”

The MP’s comments come as Reform UK pledged to restore Britain's Christian heritage if it's elected into government. Party leader Nigel Farage also criticised senior leaders in the Church of England this week, accusing them of misunderstanding what their congregations expect on migration policy.

Last July, Kruger told Parliament that the UK needs a social and political Christian revival. Despite the chamber being empty, a video of his impassioned speech has garnered over 1.3 million views online.
