A Christian MP is condemning a new report which shows people who voted to leave the EU are also more likely to support the return of the death penalty and corpo
The YouGov poll of 2,000 people found almost four in ten people would like to bring back the death penalty while a quarter said they'd welcome the return of corporal punishment.
The survey also split Remainers and Leavers on things like going back to dark blue passports and imperial measurements.
But Brexit voter and MP David Burrowes told Premier's News Hour it's wrong to typecast voters.
"This [survey] helps provide a stereotype that people who voted leave are Neanderthals and are back in the dark ages; it's just disrespectful. The reality is that 17 million people cannot be categorised around a 2,000 people survey in terms of who voted to leave or not."
Speaking on News Hour, Burrowes also said Brexit will allow the UK Government to have control over their own laws.
"[The EU has written] 50,000 laws since 1990 that do get into the nooks and crannies around people in our country's lives. We will now have control of that and constituents can now hold members of Parliament account for that and that is good news for democracy."
