The UK suicide rate for men in 2013 was 19 deaths per 100,000.
There were 1,375 female suicides registered in the UK in 2013.
In total 6,233 people over the age of 15 took their own life in the UK during 2013, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.
The highest suicide rate among the English regions was in North East England at 13.8 deaths per 100,000 populations, while London had the lowest at 7.9 per 100,000.
Speaking about the figures on Premier's News Hour, Nathan Blackaby from Christian Vision for Men said: "It's something that has concerned us deeply at CVM for quite a long time, and we've seen these rates been two to three times higher that they are with women for a long time. And even more surprising was 78 per cent of suicides were men in 2013."
