It says regularly consuming even a small amount of alcohol can lead to an increased risk of cancer.
The revised advice says both men and women should not drink any more than 14 units a week.
Previously men were allowed 21 units of alcohol, and women 14.
Julia Brown, a Christian who heads up the Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Trust, told Premier that God said people must care for their physical body: "The Bible's quite clear that the body's a temple and we need to think about how we look after ourselves - we talk a lot about looking after our planet and our environment but that also applies to our own bodies."
FASD includes a range of physical, mental and behavioural difficulties a person is born with if they have been exposed to alcohol in the womb.
Julia Brown added that: "I think this is a great opportunity, particularly for Christians, to stop for a moment and take stock and ask themselves the question - particularly when you're stressed, where is your solace coming from?
"Which spirit - the one that comes out of the bottle, or the one that God sends?"
