Jennifer Rees Larcombe, who led a long-established prayer, healing, speaking and writing ministry, has died.
She passed away at home on 24th October, after celebrating her 80th birthday the week prior.
Her ministry, Beauty From Ashes, posted a message from Larcombe's family, which read: "It is with deep sadness, yet thankfulness, that we share the news that last night our beloved mother Jennifer Rees Larcombe passed away. She died peacefully at home while surrounded by an atmosphere of prayer and worship, having been visited throughout the weekend by her closest friend, her brother, and her children and grandchildren.
"Through her books, her speaking and her charity, Beauty from Ashes, she has helped countless people to know and love Jesus. We could not be more proud of our wonderful Mum. We expect her loss will be felt deeply by many."
Ms Larcombe fell seriously ill in 1982 with viral encephalitis that confined her to a wheelchair and left her in severe pain for eight years. She said she was healed through the prayer of a new Christian at a meeting at which she was speaking. She later focused her ministry on helping people adjust to pain, loss and trauma after experiencing grief due to a broken marriage.
She co-led the organisation Beauty From Ashes with Carol Bostock.
Evangelist J John paid tribute to Ms Larcombe saying in Christian Today saying: "First, Jen was a woman with whom people could identify. Whether in person or in print she was a remarkable communicator; never talking down to you 'in general' but always, it seemed, to you personally.
"Second, Jen was a woman of utter integrity. One reason why she was so convincing a speaker and writer was her utter honesty about who she was, how she felt and how she believed God was dealing with her. With utter honesty she laid bare her struggles with depression, spiritual darkness, chronic illness and the collapse of her marriage.
"Third, Jen was a woman of insight. For all her curtailed education she was the wisest of women. There was no sense of superficiality or 'fluffiness' with her; she thought deeply about every aspect of the Christian life and applied a profound biblical knowledge to it".
There will be a service of celebration and thanksgiving for Ms Larcombe on 19th November.
