Chris Pratt finds strength in Jesus’ struggle when criticised for his Christian beliefs

US actor Chris Pratt has shared his secret to dealing with criticism coming from him being outspoken about his Christian faith.

Speaking to Page Six, Prat referenced a Bible verse when asked if he minded the backlash his public faith confessions often cause.

“If I was of this world, they would love me just like that but as it is, I’ve chosen out of this world. That’s John 15:18 through 20,” the Jurassic World star replied.

“That’s the way it is, nothing new, 2,000 years ago they hated him, too,” he added, referring to Jesus Christ.

He was speaking as his latest movie, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, premiers this weekend despite many people calling for him to be replaced as Star-Lord in the Marvel franchise movie.

This may have been due to rumours that he attended an anti-LGBTQ+ church in 2019.

Pratt refuted these claims on his Instagram story, explaining that he attends an inclusive church that welcomes everyone.

"My faith is important to me but no church defines me or my life," he said.

From sharing Bible verses to posting his favourite worship song, the 43-year-old doesn’t shy away from sharing his Christian faith on social media, when doing interviews or even with his fellow actors.

Last week, Pratt told The Hollywood Reporter he had sent encouraging Bible verses from the first chapter of James to friend and director James Gunn, who had just been fired from Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
