Two of Maverick City Music’s founding members, Chandler Moore and Naomi Raine, have announced that they are stepping away from the chart-topping worship collective to pursue new seasons in their ministries and personal callings.
In heartfelt statements shared on Instagram, both artists reflected on the life-changing journey they’ve had as part of Maverick City and expressed gratitude for what God has done through the group.
Moore described the decision as a “bittersweet” transition after years of pouring his heart into the ministry.
“This transition isn’t easy. Maverick is something I poured my heart into, so it’s almost like saying goodbye to your own kid,” he wrote. “There may be press and conversation around certain business matters that my legal team is handling. But my heart, my energy, and my focus are on what’s ahead.”
He continued by affirming his commitment to his calling in music:
“The dream hasn’t changed. I’m stepping into this next phase ready to share my story and make music that helps people feel a little more human, a little more understood, and a little less alone.”
Moore thanked Maverick City fans for their years of support and encouragement.
Meanwhile, Naomi Raine also shared her own announcement, calling the moment a “new beginning.”
“After a lot of prayer and consideration, I’ve decided that now is the best time to share that I’m no longer a part of Maverick City Music,” Raine wrote. “Being a part of Mav truly changed my life. What started as a group of folks singing in a shed has turned into something I could’ve never even imagined!”
Raine said she will continue writing, singing, and leading worship as a solo artist, adding that her time with Maverick City taught her invaluable lessons about faith, community, and herself.
“This isn’t really an ending, but a new beginning. I’m excited about the music, the ministry, and the purpose ahead. God’s not done yet.”
Since its founding in 2018, Maverick City Music has become one of the most influential worship movements in contemporary Christian music. Both Moore and Raine have been central figures in the group’s success, lending their voices and songwriting to hits such as “Jireh,” “Promises,” and “Wait on You.”
