The historic Ripon Cathedral will share updates on Twitter, the social networking site, so that parishioners who are not able to attend can follow services.
Worshippers will be able to participate online by commenting during services with the hashtag #compline.
The North Yorkshire cathedral is also the first in the country that has appointed a role dedicated to increase the number or worshippers via the internet, according to The Mirror.
Sian Lawton will oversee Ripon Cathedral's online ministries: "Online prayer is an area we're looking to develop, so keep an eye out by Âfollowing @riponcathedral on Twitter to see what happens."
The Twitter account currently has almost 3,500 followers.
The Lord almighty grant us a quiet night and a perfect end. Amen. #compline

The cathedral boasts a history of being at the fore-front of technology after St Wilfrid urged his monks to take up calligraphy when it was still relatively new in the seventh Century.
Canon Precentor Paul Greenwell, responsible for music said "Here we are in cyberspace, bringing the Word of God to people wherever they are.
"I'm sure that Wilfrid would approve."
Dean of Ripon, Canon John Dobson, said: "Our online ministry has grown enormously.
"By getting the Cathedral out there on the internet, conversations with our local community, people throughout the region and around the world have been made possible.
"It has meant members of our own congregations can keep in touch throughout the week and keep conversations going between Sunday services."
