The charity, which has rented the property since 1961, is accused of violating its rental agreement by making the main use of the shop to be to further missionary activity instead of the commercial sale of books.
The owner argues this violation should remove the bookshops protected status as tenants so that an eviction can be served.
However, at a previous hearing on 31st January, a representative from the Bible Society gave evidence and denied the claims.
The Christian bookshop is the only place selling Bibles in the Tel-Aviv area and according to Christian charity Middle East Concern; it is "believed that the owner of the premises is being influenced by others who are opposed to the presence of the Bible Society in Tel Aviv and the sale of Christian books".
The Bible Society has requested the following prayer requests:
- The Lord will give wisdom to the lawyers working on behalf of the Bible Society in Israel
- The case will proceed fairly and that the judge will arrive at a just decision that will allow the fruitful ministry in Tel Aviv to continue
- The necessary finances for the legal support will be forthcoming
- God will be glorified through the court case
