Bishop T.D. Jakes stable after health incident during sermon

by Kelly Valencia

Popular pastor Bishop T.D Jakes is recovering after suffering a health scare whilst preaching on Sunday.

The leader of The Potter's House in Dallas was seen shaking uncontrollably in a moment caught on video.

"Oh Lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace," Bishop Jake can be heard saying as he begins to lose strength, dropping his microphone and falling silent.

He’s then seen sitting, visibly uncomfortable, before his team quickly surrounds him, blocking the camera as they offer assistance.

The live stream was quickly cut, with someone urging everyone to pray.

Later, the church shared an update on the pastor's official social media accounts.

"During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health issue and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message," the church's statement read. "Bishop Jakes is stable and in the care of medical professionals."

It continued: "The entire Potter's House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers."

The pastor is one of the top televangelists in the US, with 17,000 weekly attendees, ranking 10th in 2008 for largest congregations.

According to the church's website, the congregation has more than 30,000 members, and provides a place for "the down-and-out, the homeless and other walks of life to worship and serve together".
