Pop star Billie Eilish got into the festive spirit at her concert this weekend by performing a stirring rendition of the iconic carol 'O Holy Night'.
The 23-year-old singer told the crowd at Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, that she had been "doing a Christmas cover at every show" and asked people to "sing along if you know it" before launching into the track.
At the end of her performance, Eiish qualified that she is "not religious at all" but just "loves Christmas so much" and "grew up in a choir".
The hit-making songstress, who has sold almost 50 million records worldwide, previously revealed that she was "super religious" as a child despite not being from a churchgoing family.
“I don’t not believe and I don’t do believe,” she said in a 2020 interview with actor Patrick O’Connell.
“I’m in a very neutral position. I’m open to every belief pretty much.”
Eilish added that she was intrigued by “the idea that there’s a God".
“So why not? How would I know? I’m not going to say I know I don’t, nobody knows,” she concluded.
'O Holy Night' was derived from a poem by the 19th-century poet Placide Cappeau and later developed into a musical piece by American classical music critic John Sullivan Dwight.
It has been covered by a range of modern musicians and singers including Mariah Carey, Michael Buble, Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli.
