A Christian and former prime minister of Australia, shared how his faith in God sustained him through challenging times during his tenure.
Scott Morrison described his journey in his 2024 book, Plans For Your Good: A Prime Minister's Testimony of God's Faithfulness.
In an interview with The Christian Post he said book is not a political memoir but a reflection on faith, offering insights based on Jeremiah 29:11.
Morrison emphasised that stepping away from public office allowed him to be more open about his Christian faith.
While in office, he faced numerous challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, which he described as "Australia’s biggest crisis since World War Two".
Despite criticism over strict protocols, he prioritised health and safety during a time of widespread uncertainty and anxiety.
He continued to say that one of his toughest challenges was addressing tensions with China, particularly during the pandemic and a period of natural disasters and economic recession.
He credited God with giving him strength to stand firm and highlighted the importance of partnerships, particularly with the United States, during those times.
Morrison candidly discussed his struggles with anxiety while serving as prime minister, explaining that relentless personal attacks and exhaustion took a toll on his mental health.
He encouraged Christians to seek help when needed, likening mental health support to taking medication for physical ailments.
He also stressed the importance of prayer, Christian fellowship, and trusting God during times of anxiety.
Reflecting on his setbacks, including losing his position in the tourism agency and his reelection as prime minister, Morrison shared how these experiences taught him to place his self-worth not in accomplishments but in God’s unconditional love.
He emphasised that God’s love is transformative and frees individuals from the need to prove their worth through achievements.
Throughout his life, Morrison has found God’s faithfulness "constant", whether in leadership roles, personal challenges, or family life.
His key message was that Christ’s presence is the ultimate prize, sustaining believers in all circumstances and seasons of life.
