Most Revd Justin Welby is said to have met with the ex-Labour leader at Lambeth Palace to discuss to plight of believers in places like Nigeria, Sudan, Pakistan, Iraq and Syria.
The Sunday Times newspaper claims to have spoken to a source close to the archbishop who said he asked Mr Blair to use his contacts around the world to tackle the issue.
"Welby is very concerned that 26 of the 38 provinces in the world which have Anglican communities have a serious problem with Islam," the source told newspaper.
"Blair knows every African leader and he is very close to many, if not all of the world leaders, in countries where Christian communities are under threat," the source added.
It's reported Archbishop Justin wanted the former Prime Minister to speak to his contacts and urge them to do more to protect people of the Christian faith.
The Sunday Times claimed the secret meeting took place on February 6.
A spokesman for Tony Blair said the meeting was held to "discuss among other subjects, what action can be taken to counter the rise of religious prejudice that leads to conflict and extremism around the world".
