Archbishop of York condemns constant Tim Farron gay sex questions

by Tola Mbakwe

John Sentamu was recently interviewed by BBC's Andrew Marr about the pastoral letter he and the Archbishop of Canterbury sent to parishes in the Church of England.

The letter focused on the role of faith in politics.

When Sentamu was asked if it was acceptable for Tim Farron to be constantly asked about his views on gay sex and sin, he replied, "If he expressed a view on homosexual people, of course he should be asked.

"If he expressed no view I don't think anybody is of right to interpret and read the mind of the person... we do not have a window into people's soul.

"They were pressing and pressing and pressing, and trying to create a window in his heart.

"If he suggested homosexual people should be criminalised...I would be against him.

"But he hadn't expressed a view. Some people are trying to fish.

"They are taking him into a realm of theology. Is he qualified to comment on? I am not so sure."
