Archbishop of Canterbury set for talks with Pope

Justin Welby will travel to Rome for discussions focussing on modern slavery and human trafficking.

Before that he's due to visit the Anglican centre in the Italian capital and hear about the new international Anglican Roman Catholic Commission on Unity and Mission website.

The Archbishop will then see a church based refugee project and hear about anti-poverty projects.

His meeting with the Holy Father is just a few months after they both backed an initiative between several faiths to do more to tackle slavery and human trafficking.

Speaking at the time of the Global Freedom Network's launch Archbishop Justin said: "Many are already engaged in the struggle and we join them with much to learn as well as much to contribute.

"All are called to join common cause to end this crime and suffering.

"The more we share the pain and oppression of the poor and suffering in the name of God, the more God will draw us closer to each other, because we will need each other's strength and support to make the kind of difference that is needed."

The meeting takes place on Monday morning.
