Distinguished theologian Gordon Fee has died at the age of 88. It’s been reported he passed away on 25th at his home in New York City.

He was well known for his expertise in the New Testament. One of his most popular books, How To Read The Bible For All Its Worth,  helps the average person engage and understand the New Testament.

Many Christian leaders have paid tribute to Fee.

Griffin Gulledge, pastor of Madison Baptist Church in Madison, Georgia tweeted: “None of my church members could tell you who Gordon Fee is. But every one of them has benefitted from his work. I bet that’s true in tens of thousands of churches.”

Meanwhile, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary professor Denny Burk tweeted: “Gordon Fee is one of the most influential New Testament scholars who has ever lived. For me, the work that I come back to over and over again is his commentary on 1 Corinthians.”

Fee was a professor at Regent College for 16 years, which described him as a “treasured colleague, teacher, friend, and pastor to many”.

His wife, Maudine, died in 2014. He leaves behind four children.
