Premier Praise has revealed its Worship 100 List for 2024, which shows  a mix of contemporary worship anthems and hymns that have influenced Christians across the nation.

For the second consecutive year, ‘Goodness of God’ by Bethel was voted as the top song.

This year's list also showcases the rise of ‘I speak Jesus,’ by Charity Gayle which climbed from 27th to fourth place.

The list, published on Pentecost Sunday also showed the lasting appeal of classic hymns such as "Be thou my vision" and "Amazing grace (My chains are gone)”.

"Be Thou My Vision," with origins tracing back to the 8th century, made a leap to rank seventh. Similarly, "How great thou art," based on a Swedish poem from 1885, remains a favourite, coming in at number five.

Charmaine Noble-McLean, director of content for Premier, expressed appreciation for the rich spiritual heritage represented in the Worship 100 List.

"We're profoundly moved by the stories these hymns tell and their unwavering significance in our community's faith journey, she said.

"The presence of these historical gems within the Worship 100 List is a beautiful reminder of our shared heritage in faith and the transformative power of worship through generations. These songs and hymns, bring comfort and hope but more importantly, glory to Jesus."

She added: "It's more than just a list; it's a narrative of resilience, joy, and communal worship."
