More people are turning to the Bible, and the YouVersion Bible App has proof. Not only are sales up in the U.S., nearing 20 million purchases so far this year, but the app has also announced that it has just hit one billion installs worldwide.
“We’re seeing incredible global momentum around Bible engagement, and it’s humbling to be part of what’s happening,” said Bobby Gruenewald, Founder and CEO of YouVersion.
Founded in 2008, YouVersion has grown to help people engage with the Bible in over 2,300 languages. In the UK alone, YouVersion’s apps have been installed more than 17.7 million times, reflecting the growing global demand for digital access to the Bible.
According to YouVersion, global app installs are up more than 12% year-over-year, and daily usage is growing even faster, with an 18% increase compared to last year.
“Every day we hear stories of lives being changed—someone overcoming addiction, marriages being restored, people encountering Scripture in their own language for the first time,” Guenewald added. “This milestone is really a celebration of the Bible itself and what happens when people around the world work together to get it into the hands and hearts of more people.”
To celebrate YouVersion’s milestone, thousands of people celebrated at the Paycom Center, home to the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, according to the Christian Broadcasting Network.
Believers from all over the world traveled for a night of worship, reflection, thanksgiving, and to learn more about what’s in store for the future of the app.
