Vicar's cat causes holiday chaos after hiding in caravan

Rev Jane Brown from St Mary's in Garforth and her husband Paul discovered their cat Squishy had joined them in their caravan when they got to France.

"She must have been in there for at least 23 hours by the time we found her", Rev Brown told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "Squish is a very inquisitive cat, she is still sniffing around now and hasn't learned her lesson at all."

Due to local regulations, they were forced to keep the cat in the caravan for 21 days elongating their break.

Keeping Squishy indoors caused its own problems due to France suffering due to a heatwave.

They kept the cat cool by using ice blocks and a wet flannel.

The Brown's also needed to arrange a rabies jab and collect a pet passport.

Rev Brown was forced to leave her husband and cat behind as she needed to return to work.

Paul helped out on the caravan site to pay for accommodation.
