Trump's first 100 days in office: the Christian reaction

by Tola Mbakwe

It's a time when the president is given a review of his performance.

American writer, broadcaster and CBE, Christina Reese, told Premier he seems to be creating hope for some people who had given up.

She said: "He inspired... some people in America who had completely given up on the government and on politicians so that in and of itself has got to be a good thing.

"However, I have to say on the other side of that he's also been creating fear and confusing and despair on others particularly on issues of immigration."

Evangelical Christians supported Trump during his campaign and Christian political commentator Dr. Alan Storkey believes he has managed to keep their backing so far.

He told Premier: "One thing has been the nomination for the Supreme Court of Neil Gorsuch who's different on the abortion issue form the dominant position of the Supreme Court."

President Trump has seen criticism from those who say he underdelivered on promises to start building the US- Mexico border wall, his fake news claims are dangerous to the media and his careless use of Twitter.

Dr. Jan Halpar who's the Leader of Republicans Abroad-UK told Premier people are just nit-picking.

"Would you have told JFK to get off the TV?

"Would you have told FDR to get off the radio?

"Twitter is part of our everyday life and we better come to grips with it. He knows how to speak to that generation who can accept it."
