Kristy Adams, who was selected last month by the Tory's to run for the seat, said in a recording obtained by The Mirror that she laid her hands on a man's ears and said: "Be healed in Jesus' name."
Adams went with a team of people in 2009 to pray for others at a Vitality Show, an event which featured yoga classes, Indian head massage, a day spa and stands from more than 350 health, fitness and spirituality organisations.
However, when she discovered one of her team members had an ailment; she wanted to pray for him.
"He was a Jewish evangelist...Jewish people come to God. He had hearing aids in both ears and I just thought that wasn't right. It just annoyed me.
"I said 'I don't think that's right that you should be serving God like this. Can I pray for you'?
"His eyes lit up, which is unusual when you offer to pray for someone for healing.
"He took his hearing aids out and I just put my hands on his ears and said 'be healed in Jesus' name'.
"He took my hands off and he could actually hear.
"I don't know if he was more surprised than me!"
Adams told the Mirror yesterday when asked about the incident that: "Like millions of Christians in the UK, I believe in praying to help people."
"Millions of Christians around the world pray for people's health - that's a good thing isn't it?
"It's about tolerance and we are a city of tremendous tolerance."
Adams is the owner of a design firm, a former Bedford Borough Councillor and has in the past served as Conservative Area Chair for Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
She volunteers at the Brighton night shelter, works on a campaign to reuse school uniforms and worked with Theresa May fighting for the rights of people who have suffered modern slavery.
Adams will try to win the seat back in the next general election from Labour MP Peter Kyle who won two years ago with a majority of 1,236.
