Time won't help cosmetic decision, says Christian youth worker

Jason Royce from the Romance Academy was speaking after new suggestions from the General Medical Council (GMC) said that surgeons that carry out cosmetic procedures should give patients more time to consider their decision.

The GMC said patients need a 'cooling off' period before going ahead with treatment. with the growth of the cosmetic surgery industry means vulnerable patients are increasingly at risk.

Jason Royce from the Christian youth group, told Premier's News Hour: "If you're changing something about yourself because you think you'll feel better or your life will be better because your nose is a bit straighter or smaller or you've had some kind of surgical procedure, I think you'll be disappointed in the long run, because I don't think it's going to fix the underlying issue."

"Someone who's got to the point of asking for surgery, another couple of weeks may not change a lot, unless they're being surrounded by people who can give them good and healthy support.

"If someone hasn't good a good support structure around them, two weeks isn't going to make any difference whatsoever."
