The Archbishop of Canterbury has expressed that the Church of England will continue to pray and work for a church where all are welcomed and valued.

Today marks Racial Justice Sunday and the Most Revd Justin Welby, shared a prayer on Twitter, to mark the day as a celebration.

In a Tweet, Most Revd Justin Welby wrote: “Grateful for this prayer on #RacialJusticeSunday as we celebrate the richness and diversity of all those who bear God’s image.

“We continue to pray and work for a church where all are welcomed, valued, and loved as God loves us.”

The Archbishop then shared a prayer underneath in his Tweet, the prayer read:

“Merciful God,

“You are righteous and love justice:

“Stir the hearts of the people that,

“Rejoicing in diversity,

“We may repent of the wrongs of the past

“And by your grace, seek the peaceful kingdom of your Son

“Our Saviour Jesus Christ,

“Who lives and reigns with you,

“In the unity of the Holy Spirit,

“One God, now and forever.”
