A married couple who pastor in an Australian church have allegedly been threatened in their own home, alongside two close relatives and their newborn baby.
Andrew and Noleen Sedra said “LGBTQ left-wing activists” were behind the threats made on their doorstep of their Sydney home on 3 September, naming the couple and relatives Martin and Millicent Sedra, and their five week-old child.
In a video posted on X, the four people approach the door with one launching into an expletive-ridden tirade threatening to be at the doorstep every night and “kill you”. It comes after their address was posted online.
The Echo Church pastors and relatives said they have now taken the decision to relocate, after police said officers could only take “reactive, not preventative” steps in response.
Explaining their position on Instagram, the family shared that they have received numerous death threats on social media in the past year. Reflecting on the Bondi terror attack in December and “rising knife and gun crime across Sydney”, they told followers “here in Australia, we don’t have the Second Amendment” meaning they were fundraising to move somewhere they felt safer.
Andrew said: “Our only option to be safe is to move to a secure home as soon as possible, in order to continue to preach the word of the Lord and fight against woke leftism and violent Islam.”
“We are not backing down. We are not going to be silent. We will continue to preach the truth of the Bible with courage and boldness, and we will continue to fight the good fight against violent Islam and woke ideologies.”
Their Give Send Go campaign has raised more than $310,000AUD (£164,000) so far.
Sermons posted on the Echo Church website focus on cultural debates, with titles including “Islam is God’s judgement on the world”, “a prophetic warning this pride month”, and “we need to talk about the UK” in reference to the grooming gang scandal.
There are also several preaches on Israel and Islam with provocative headlines of “Has the church replaced Israel?” and “Is Israel the synagogue of Satan?”
On Sunday, a Facebook post from Echo Church said the congregation “prayed for protection for our pastors as they continue to have courage for the faith in speaking the truth no matter what the cost”, as well as paying “tribute to the life of Charlie Kirk”.
The church meets in southwest Sydney with a Florida, USA, location “coming soon”, according to its website.
