Sir Cliff Richard honours Rev Billy Graham, 'the most honourable of men'

Reacting to news that Graham died at his home in North Carolina on Wednesday at the age of 99, the Sir Cliff said the preacher was an inspiration.

Writing on Facebook, the Christian entertainer also said: "His faith was obvious and I found him inspiring to be with.

"His rallies were always moving and enlightening and he presented a 'hope' to many who didn't know that one existed."

Sir Cliff first publicly declared his faith in Jesus Christ during a rally Rev Billy Graham held at London's Earl Court exhibition venue in 1966.

The performer, known for hits including Congratulations and Summer Holiday, was later invited in 1985 to perform in front of 47,000 people during a Billy Graham event at a football stadium in Sheffield.

Paying tribute to Graham, he continued: "Monarchs, presidents and prime ministers admired him.
