Singapore teen guilty over Jesus video

It's after Amos Yee, 16, made a YouTube video criticising the late Singaporean leader Lee Kuan Yew and comparing his death to that of Jesus Christ, who he also criticised. It was called "Lee Kuan Yew is Finally Dead!"

He then posted an obscene image of Lee Kuan Yew with the former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on his blog. The two are said to have had a good working relationship while they were in office.

Amos Yee denied a charge of wounding religious feeling and obscenity, however the state dropped a third charge of harassment.

Lee Kuan Yew died in March 2015 after leading the country for more than thirty years. He was given a state funeral which thousands attended, including world leaders. Singapore also engaged in a week of national mourning, further symbolising his popularity with the people.

Human rights campaigners say the ruling goes against free speech, which is guaranteed in the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore.
