The writer behind a Simpsons episode which “predicted” a Donald Trump presidency has launched a Moses-themed bid for the White House.
In a social media video titled "The Reckoning," Dan Greaney described himself as a “self-proclaimed prophet,” bringing news of “judgement day” for Donald Trump.
“Our crisis is political, historic… beyond that, it is moral,” Greaney stated, dressed in a Moses-style bearded wig and robe.
He then throws off the costume to reveal a suit and tie.
“Screw it, I can be a politician,” he announced. “My platform: America for all. Let’s do this.”
Greaney has pitched his campaign on being a “progressive Republican”.
His now-infamous episode, which first aired in 2000, saw Lisa Simpson take over as president, attempting to fix a “budget crunch from President Trump.”
Greaney previously told The Hollywood Reporter that he pitched the idea of a fictional trump presidency because he saw it as “the last logical stop before hitting bottom…it was consistent with a vision of America going insane.”
He is yet to outline any policy ideas or positions.
