Earlier this month Gomez attended Hillsong Church NY led by Pastor Carl Lentz.
During interview with 'Elvis Duran and the Morning Show' on iHeart Radio, Gomez expressed her disapproval of paparazzi taking photos of her before and after church.
Duran said it was a positive thing that she was being photographed.
The singer replied: "It's also still a little disrespectful, I have to be honest. I think they get the objective of me going to do something and when I leave it's like they almost want to make it worse as I'm leaving church but you can't leave church in a bad mood.
"I felt very empowered when I walked out and I was very happy," she continued.
During the 20-minute interview Gomez continued to talk about how Christianity has impacted her life.
She explained that her faith has kept her life on the right track and even invited the interviewer to "check out Hillsong anytime."
She said: "I haven't really been all over the place lately and that's kind of intentional. I think it's important to balance out where I am, and I've been doing this for a really long time, and my sanity has meant everything to me, and a lot of that is my faith," she said.
