Just over a month after stepping down from leadership at Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, following his father Robert Morris' resignation, James Morris is planning to open his own church.

On their newly launched website, James and his wife, Bridgette, shared that they are currently seeking God’s guidance on “when, where, and how to plant a church”.

The website also states: “We are excited to begin this extraordinary journey, a dream we’ve held in our hearts to pastor a vibrant church passionate about God’s presence and filled with people who love God and others.

“We are taking time to rest, pray, and listen to the Lord after this last season, filled with anticipation and hope as we discern God’s direction for our next steps.”

James Morris briefly led Gateway Church after his father resigned on 18th June amid allegations of child sex abuse.

According to The Christian Post, James and Bridgette Morris are now gathering contact details from those interested in joining them on their new church-planting venture.
