Developers have announced the imminent release of a video game that allows children to pretend to be Jesus.

The game, designed by SimulaMaker, allows children to role-play as Christ , taking them through his life and much of his ministry.

The game recreates key moments in the Bible, allowing the player to interact with their surroundings as they try to heal the sick and fight demons.

In a bid to hit the rush for Christmas shopping, the developers have announced the game will hit the market on December 1, via the website Steam.

Earlier this year, the Church of Scotland backed the game in an interview with The Telegraph.

A spokesperson said: “"For centuries, the story of Jesus Christ has been retold in different ways - from medieval mystery plays to Hollywood blockbusters.

"Anything which helps people to think about him and discuss his life, mission, ministry, death and resurrection in new ways can only be a positive thing.

"However, people don't need to buy video games to learn about Jesus, they can come to Church and meet him in bread and wine, love and service and learning and caring."

Speaking to Premier Christian News following the announcement of the game, Maksym Vysochansky – the creator - said: "I hope that kids will use this game to learn more about who Jesus Christ is.”
