Pippa Middleton and fiancé attend Christian pre-marital counselling

Pippa Middleton and her fiancé, a 41 year old hedge fund manager, met Rev Nick Wynne-Jones and his wife Harriet from St Mark's Church in Englefield, Berkshire.

Middleton, 33, attended meetings with the vicar of the church where she and Matthews will tie the knot on 20th May, on the advice of her mother Carole.

One source told the Daily Mail: "Pippa and James are a very solid couple but on Carole's recommendation they have met with Nick and Harriet for five pre-martial meetings both at Englefield, where they are to be married, and Nick's home."

Topics included in Church of England marriage preparation may include communication, money, coping with conflict, sex, in-laws and family issues and children.

The source added: "Starting a family is high on their list of priorities and both were really engaging when Nick and Harriet's grandchildren, who were at the house, interrupted them."

On its marriage preparation webpage, the Church of England said: "Churches sometimes offer marriage preparation, perhaps as part of a group with other couples.

"This gives you an opportunity to think through possible areas of difficulty and how you will handle them as a couple."
