US Televangelist Paula White-Cain has disclosed that Donald Trump sought divine counsel on his presidential ambitions, expressing to her, "Well, what does God say?" about the idea of running for office.
White-Cain, who served as Trump's spiritual advisor and played a key role in his Evangelical advisory board in 2016, shared this insight during her speech at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority conference.
Reflecting on their initial interaction, which predates Trump's political career, White-Cain remembered telling him, "You have the it factor," to which she clarified, "Oh sir, we call that the anointing." She described her longstanding relationship with Trump by saying, "For 24 years, I’ve been in his life and have had the great privilege of really being his pastor."
Upon contemplating a presidential run in 2011 due to concerns about the country's direction, Trump confided in White-Cain. After seeking God's guidance through prayer with friends, she confidently told Trump, “Sir … you’re going to be president one day.” However, she also warned him about the sacrifices involved, saying, “I hate the price that you’re going to pay."
Accoridng to The Independant, following his term and amidst ongoing legal challenges, which he denies any wrongdoing, White-Cain has continued to defend Trump.
She criticised his recent conviction on 34 felony counts as a misuse of the judicial system for political purposes. "It’s a sad day for all Americans as we watched firsthand the judicial system weaponised to go after President Trump for political gain," she said in a post on X.
Moreover, White-Cain utilised her platform at the Road to Majority conference not only to recount her spiritual guidance to Trump but also to critique President Biden's administration. She said that religious freedom and pro-life policies are "under attack as never before in our lifetime," emphasising that policies enacted during Trump's presidency had been reversed by Biden.
Concluding her address, White-Cain declared against what she perceives as anti-faith policies under Biden’s leadership: “We will put a stop to it come November.”
